Noémi P. Raymond’s Architecture and Design  Inspired by Japanese Aesthetics

Now on view 2026.3.19–2026.6.18 at Gallery A4 at Tokyo, Japan.

In March, we celebrated the opening of Noémi P. Raymond’s Architecture and Design | Inspired by Japanese Aesthetics at Gallery A4 in Tokyo, Japan. The exhibit presents Noemi's architecture and design work in full for the first time. Some of Noémi's granddaughters and great-grandchildren traveled to Tokyo for the opening to celebrate this milestone with the many collaborators who made this possible.

Architectural historian Atsuko Tanaka and Professor Kiwa Matsushita have spent years building a scholarly case for Noémi Raymond's place in the history of modern design. Curator Michiyo Okabe brought this work to physical form at Gallery A4.

Historic House Tour and Lecture -  Noémi Pernessin Raymond: Designer/Artist

May 2nd:

Continuing the momentum from Tokyo, we invite you to an event featuring Noémi that’s closer to home. For 60 years, Noémi Pernessin Raymond was a collaborative partner with her husband, Antonin Raymond, contributing to nearly every aspect of their architecture and design practice in Asia and America. While historical bias frequently minimized her influence, Antonin credited her as his primary inspiration and teacher. This lecture by John DeFazio examines Noémi’s extensive work in textiles, furniture, interiors, and even residential design, reevaluating her essential role within the 20th-century modern movement. The lecture will be preceded by a historic tour of the Raymond Farm House.

The Raymond Farm Center is an art and design organization located in New Hope, Pennsylvania at the former home of architect and designer Antonin and Noémi Raymond. Established in 2013, the Center offers a wide variety of events and opportunities for artists, historians, and researchers to explore the history of the Raymonds.
