Events & Communications Internship

This internship is for anyone who wishes to gain event planning and communications experience in a small nonprofit committed to the arts and environmental sustainability. Interns will work with the Raymond Farm Center team to organize, promote, and execute our 2018 programming, which includes academic lectures, community-centered activities, and larger fundraising events. When work does not require onsite presence, interns are permitted to work remotely and will have access to our office space in Philadelphia. Interns are encouraged to spend a few hours per week working in the organic garden.

Hours and start/end date are flexible; approximately April - October; 20 hours/week; must be available on weekends

Rolling application

Responsibilities could include:

  • Contacting vendors
  • Organizing and purchasing supplies
  • Helping establish logistics for events
  • Promoting events
  • Managing online registration
  • Setting up and breaking down events
  • Managing social media profiles including live posts during events
  • Registering guests and managing sales during events

Requirements :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work both with a team and independently
  • Creativity and industrious attitude 
  • Proficiency with social media
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to talk to people comfortably  
  • Own transportation a plus
  • Interest in the arts and sustainable living a plus 

This is an unpaid position. Interns will receive free range eggs and fresh produce from the organic garden weekly.

Farm to Table Internship

As a Farm to Table Intern, you will be contributing to a central element of the Raymond Farm Center by growing beautiful organic food and helping prepare it to share with the community. You will work with other interns along with Charlotte and Janet Raymond in a relaxed environment at the Raymond Farm Center to manage the organic garden, vegetable stand, and assist in the kitchen during events.

Hours and start/end date are flexible; approximately April - October; 25 hours/week.

Rolling application

Responsibilities could include:

  • Planting and harvesting
  • Pest and weed management
  • Management of the vegetable stand
  • Assisting in kitchen
  • Assisting with events
  • Tending free range chickens

Requirements:

  • Previous experience with kitchen and garden work required
  • Interest in organic agriculture and a commitment to sustainable living
  • Desire to learn and refine kitchen skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Attentiveness to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Willingness to work outside in all reasonable weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Own transportation required
  • Interest in arts/design a plus
